Co-Founder & CEO
Barbara is a cognitive neuroscientist and data scientist with a PhD from the University of Cambridge. During her PhD, she co-developed the Temporal Experience Tracing™ (TET) methodology, the foundation of HED’s platform.
Barbara combines her academic expertise with her experience as a data scientist in the tech and healthcare sectors. She has led multidisciplinary teams and built data-driven solutions, giving her a unique perspective on integrating science, technology, and patient-centred care. As CEO, Barbara is committed to ensuring HED delivers impactful solutions that transform clinical research.
Co-Founder & Head of Partnerships
Dr. Tristan Bekinschtein is a Professor and Chair of Consciousness and Cognition at the University of Cambridge, where he leads the Consciousness and Cognition Lab. Tristan has held prestigious roles including EU Marie Curie Fellow, Fyssen Fellow at ICM Paris, Wellcome Trust Fellow, and Turing Fellow.
His research focuses on the cognitive neuroscience of consciousness, investigating transitions between states such as wakefulness, sleep, sedation, and meditative experiences. By bridging subjective, behavioural and neurophysiological data, his work advances understanding of how attention and consciousness interact in health and disease.
At Human Experience Dynamics, Tristan ensures the scientific validation of the Temporal Experience Tracing™ (TET) methodology and leads the development of research collaborations and strategic partnerships.
At Human Experience Dynamics (HED), we believe that patients are the true experts on their symptoms. While researchers and clinicians provide scientific expertise, patients bring invaluable insights from their lived experiences—insights that are often overlooked but are essential to improving healthcare.
Patients face critical decisions about the treatment journeys they choose to embark on. To make those decisions, they need access to meaningful data that reflects the factors most important to them. As every individual’s journey is unique, we recognise that lived experiences can uncover priorities that science alone cannot anticipate.
By placing the patient at the centre of clinical research we ensure that research is guided by what truly matters. From designing trials that capture the nuances of patient-reported outcomes to using their insights to inform treatments, our approach enables clinical research to deliver its best version: one that is empathetic, precise, and impactful.
At HED, our mission is to transform how patient experiences are valued, making them as scientifically measurable and actionable as physiological metrics. By doing so, we empower researchers, clinicians, and patients to create treatments that improve not just health outcomes, but quality of life itself.
Temporal Experience Tracing™ (TET) is our proprietary method that allows patients to visually map the intensity of their symptoms—such as pain, fatigue, or emotions—over time. This approach captures the nuances of their experiences, creating dynamic time-series data that traditional static questionnaires cannot provide.
Unlike traditional ePRO solutions, which rely on static questionnaires, our platform captures continuous, high-resolution data on patient experiences. By aligning this data with physiological metrics from wearable devices, we provide a complete picture of the patient’s journey, offering actionable insights that improve decision-making in clinical trials.
Our platform is designed for biopharmaceutical companies, Contract Research Organisations (CROs), hospitals, and health-tech firms conducting clinical trials. It’s also beneficial for researchers looking to capture nuanced patient-reported data and align it with physiological biomarkers.
Yes! TET is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. Patients simply trace their experiences on a time graph, which they find engaging and straightforward. The method reduces the burden of traditional questionnaires, improving compliance and data quality.
We prioritise data security and comply with industry standards like GDPR and HIPAA. All patient data is anonymised, encrypted, and securely stored, ensuring the highest level of protection.
Absolutely! Our platform is designed to integrate seamlessly with data from wearable devices such as smartwatches, fitness trackers, and portable EEG systems. This allows us to align subjective patient experiences with physiological data for deeper insights.
